Hi, I'm Cortney. I believe every mother deserves to feel supported, informed, and empowered throughout her birth journey. Through compassionate care, practical support, and faith-centered encouragement, I help families navigate pregnancy and birth with confidence and peace.
Drawing from years of experience as a Patient Care Technician and Medical Assistant within East Tennessee's hospital systems, I've walked beside families in some of their most vulnerable and sacred moments — and that calling led me straight to birth work.
Before Cortney ever held a laboring mother's hand as a doula, she was already being prepared for this work. As a Patient Care Technician at East Tennessee Children's Hospital and Saint Francis Hospital — and as a Medical Assistant — she spent years moving through the rhythms of clinical care, witnessing the moments that medicine alone cannot fully tend to: the quiet fear in a mother's eyes before delivery, the overwhelm that settles in the hours after birth, and the deep, unspoken longing for someone to simply stay.
It was in those hallways that Cortney felt a clear and unmistakable calling — not just to care for bodies, but to hold hearts. To step into the sacred space of birth as someone who bridges the clinical and the compassionate. Rooted Grace Birth Co. was born from that calling.
She believes deeply that birth is one of life's most powerful and holy experiences — and that every mother deserves to move through it feeling known, prepared, and held. Cortney brings her healthcare background, her DONA training, and her faith to every family she serves — walking alongside you not as an authority, but as a steady, informed, and deeply caring presence.
She is honored to serve families across Knoxville, Maryville, Oak Ridge, Farragut, Sevierville, Lenoir City, and the broader East Tennessee region.
You deserve evidence-based information delivered without pressure — so you can make choices that feel right for you, not anyone else.
Regardless of birth plan, background, or circumstance — every family deserves to be genuinely held during one of life's most transformative moments.
Whether it unfolds exactly as planned or takes an unexpected path, your birth story matters. I hold it with care, never judgment.
For families who desire it, Christ-centered encouragement is a profound anchor in the uncertainty of labor. Rooted Grace is a safe space for that.
Research shows that continuous doula support leads to better outcomes. Showing up — fully, consistently — is the most important thing I do.
The weeks after birth are as tender and sacred as labor itself. Families deserve to be nurtured, not just discharged.
Because real connection starts with knowing who someone is — here are a few things that make Cortney, Cortney:
